CrowdReply calculates Comment Rank using the Reddit API. Specifically: We fetch the thread’s comments via the API We sort them using Reddit’s “Top” ranking Then we assign rank based on the order Reddit returns (1 = top comment, 2 = second, etc.) So in most cases, CrowdReply’s rank matches what you’d see if you open the thread and sort by Top. When these mismatches happen, there isn’t much we can do on our end - this behavior comes directly from Reddit’s ranking and API inconsistencies.
